In 2006, our founders Connie Rice and Susan Lee envisioned a Los Angeles that radically believed in reimagining safety and justice to center community.
Over the last 20 years, Urban Peace Institute (UPI) has trained thousands of community violence intervention workers, influenced policy change from Los Angeles across the nation, and sparked a new generation of peacemakers and advocates. Alongside our partners, we’ve proven that when communities are at the center, we can build tangible solutions to save lives and transform justice.
