LAVIC meets with Mayor Karen Bass

The Los Angeles Violence Intervention Coalition (LAVIC) met with Mayor Karen Bass in May to provide feedback on important qualities for the incoming police chief. Peacemakers from across Los Angeles gathered with the Mayor to express the importance of hiring a police chief that recognizes and values the role of community violence interventionists in creating community safety throughout the city.

Violence interventionists maintain a professional understanding with law enforcement that allows them to respond to crises and address incidents in their distinct lane. Leaders must continue to respect this professional understanding to further validate intervention as essential to public safety.
