Summer Night Lights Training
Summer brings long days, warm nights, and unfortunately, seasonal spikes in crime. UPI has been busy these past months proactively working to ensure the summer is peaceful for all families. In June, we trained over 130 gang intervention and community workers to work with the City of Los Angeles’ GRYD Summer Night Lights program. This program works to transform neighborhood parks that have been adversely affected by gang activity into vibrant community centers that promote peace, health, and safety for all neighborhood residents.
The highly successful Summer Night Lights initiative is now in its 10th year, keeping 32 parks open late with our trained workers offering family friendly and community building activities. We could not be prouder of our trained peacemakers who are ensuring a safer summer for thousands of families!
